Matthew Napoli is an artist and art educator based in Providence, Rhode Island.
He began his training at San Jacinto College in his native Houston, Texas. Since then, he has a BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.
Napoli’s has been a grantee of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, a finalist for the 2022 AXA Art Prize, and an artist in residence at the New York Academy of Art and Chautauqua Visual Arts. His work has been exhibited in museums, galleries, and artist-run spaces in cities including Boston, New York City, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, New Bedford, Cambridge, Baltimore, and Providence.
As an art educator, Napoli has taught at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, the Newport Art Museum, and currently teaches at Bristol Community College,.
